ResourcesThemes and styling
A calculator that looks like it belongs on your site earns more trust, and trust is what gets a borrower to type in their income.
Free plan, no card. Paid plans include a 14-day trial.
PrequalFunnel ships 12 mortgage calculator themes, each with a light and a dark mode, plus 20 color palettes, fonts, corner radius and editable copy. The theme sets the layout and surfaces; the palette sets your brand colors. Ledger, Minimal and Compact work on every plan; richer themes unlock on Producer and Brokerage.
01
A borrower decides in a few seconds whether a calculator feels like part of your business or a bolted-on tool. If it clashes with your site, it reads as a third-party ad, and fewer people get as far as the lead form.
PrequalFunnel splits appearance into two layers. The theme controls structure: card layout, surfaces, shadows, effects and how results are presented. The palette controls your brand colors. Because the two are independent, you can try a different theme without re-entering your colors, or change colors without losing the layout you liked.
Every theme has a light and a dark mode, and you can set the mode to auto so the calculator follows the visitor's device setting. In dark mode your palette sets the primary and button colors while the neutral surfaces come from the theme, and contrast is corrected automatically so text stays readable. On top of that you can change fonts, corner radius and the text of every label, heading and button, so the lead form asks for a quote in your own words.
Three themes are included on every plan, six more on Producer and up, and three effect-heavy themes on Brokerage. Anyone can preview every theme; the plan check happens when you save.
| Theme | What it looks like | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Ledger | The default: clean, numerate, finance-first layout | Every plan |
| Minimal | Stripped back, lots of white space | Every plan |
| Compact | Dense layout for narrow sidebars and short pages | Every plan |
| Glass | Frosted translucent panels | Producer and Brokerage |
| Soft UI | Soft, raised neumorphic surfaces | Producer and Brokerage |
| Aurora | Gradient color wash behind the card | Producer and Brokerage |
| Editorial | Magazine-style type and generous headings | Producer and Brokerage |
| Image hero | A photo header, from curated licensed images or your own upload | Producer and Brokerage |
| Spotlight | Split layout that puts the result front and center | Producer and Brokerage |
| Depth 3D | Layered cards with a sense of depth | Brokerage |
| Particles | Subtle animated particle backdrop | Brokerage |
| Dashboard | Results laid out like a reporting dashboard | Brokerage |
The theme is the starting point. These controls finish the job so the calculator reads as yours.
Pick one of 20 palettes or set your own primary, button, background, surface, text and result colors.
Choose a font that matches your site and set how rounded the corners are, from square to pill-shaped.
Rewrite labels, headings, button text and lead-form messages. Useful when your compliance team wants specific consent wording.
Themes such as Image hero take options, like which photo to show. Curated photos are licensed; you can also upload your own.
Save a base theme with your palette, options and custom CSS, then apply it to any calculator or widget in one step.
They are built not to. Effects load only for the themes that use them. The Particles backdrop respects the visitor's reduced-motion setting and pauses when the calculator scrolls off screen. If your audience skews older or reads on older phones, Ledger or Minimal in auto mode is still the safest choice, and you can change themes later without touching your embed code.
Some LOs pay a developer to hand-build a calculator. Here is the honest trade-off.
FAQ · 9 questions
There are 12 themes, each with a light and a dark mode. Three of them (Ledger, Minimal and Compact) are on every plan, including the free Originator plan. Six more are on Producer and Brokerage, and Depth 3D, Particles and Dashboard are on Brokerage.
Yes. Every theme can be previewed in light and dark mode on any plan. The plan check only happens when you save a theme to a calculator or widget, so you can see exactly what you would get before deciding to upgrade.
A theme is the structure: layout, surfaces, shadows and effects. A palette is your brand colors. They are independent, so you can keep your colors and try a different theme, or keep the layout and change colors, without redoing the other.
It can. Set the mode to auto and the calculator follows the visitor's device preference. You can also force light or dark. In dark mode, your palette's primary and button colors carry over and contrast is corrected so text stays readable.
Yes. Image hero offers a set of curated, licensed photos, and you can upload your own image instead, for example a photo of your market or your office. Image hero is available on Producer and Brokerage.
No. In the default inline embed the calculator renders in an isolated container, so your site's styles can't leak in and the calculator's styles can't leak out. See embed options for the details of each mode.
Yes. Every label, heading, button and lead-form message is editable. Many LOs change the call to action to something like "Get my pre-qual numbers" and adjust the consent text to match what their compliance team approved.
Themes are checked against your plan when they are saved. If you move to a plan that doesn't include a theme you use, plan to switch those calculators to a theme your new plan covers, such as Ledger, Minimal or Compact.
Yes. Save a theme with your palette, options and any custom CSS, then apply it to each calculator and to your widgets. Changing the saved theme is quicker than restyling calculators one at a time.
