A free calculator gives your visitors an answer. The question is whether it gives you anything back.
Free plan, no card. Paid plans include a 14-day trial.
Free mortgage calculator plugins and widgets do one job well: they show a visitor a payment. For a loan officer, the gaps are what happens next. Most do not capture the lead with the borrower's numbers, send it to a CRM or HighLevel, carry your brand, speak Spanish or keep US program figures current. PrequalFunnel is built around those gaps.
Credit where it is due. For a visitor-facing payment tool, many are perfectly good.

No subscription, which matters for a new LO with no marketing budget.
Many install from a plugin directory or a copied snippet in minutes.
Borrowers recognize the format, which lowers the effort to try it.

Because a calculator that captures nothing is a service you provide to visitors for free, and then they leave. That may be fine for a real-estate blog. For a loan officer, the calculator is often the most engaged moment on the site: the visitor typed in a price, a down payment and maybe their debts. If there is no way to raise a hand at that moment, that intent goes nowhere.
Some plugins add a contact form below the calculator. That helps, but if the form does not store what the borrower entered and saw, you get a name without a scenario. You start the first call by asking the questions the borrower already answered on your page.
PrequalFunnel puts the lead form inside the calculator and saves every input and result with the contact. Leads land in the built-in CRM and, on paid plans, post to HighLevel or any webhook, so follow-up starts with the borrower's own numbers.
Conforming loan limits, FHA limits and mortgage insurance figures change. The 2026 baseline conforming loan limit is $832,750 and the FHA upfront MIP is 1.75% of the base loan. A free plugin that was last updated years ago may show borrowers outdated numbers under your name. Check when yours was last maintained.
Swap the calculator, keep the page.
Home page, purchase pages, blog posts and any landing pages your ads use.
A mortgage payment calculator for general pages; FHA, VA or refinance on program pages.
Set your theme and copy, and add consent text approved by your compliance contact.
Remove the plugin and paste one line of code in each spot. See embed options.
Submit the form and confirm the alert and CRM record.
An honest split.

Many are accurate for basic principal and interest. Accuracy issues usually come from what they leave out: taxes, insurance, PMI or MIP, program fees, or outdated figures.
You can. The limitation is that most separate forms do not save what the borrower entered or saw, so you get a name without the scenario.
Yes, and on Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, HighLevel funnels and websites, and any site where you can paste one line of code.
Yes. The Originator plan is free and includes 5 calculators, the lead form, the CRM and email alerts. It shows a small "Powered by" credit.
It loads as one script with a div, not a WordPress plugin that runs on every page, and inline mode is style-isolated. As with any embed, test your page speed after adding it.
On Producer and Brokerage, yes. White-label removes the credit and lets you serve calculators from your own domain.
Generally not on their own. PrequalFunnel sends each lead to HighLevel by webhook on paid plans, with the borrower's numbers ready for custom fields.
Yes, every calculator switches to Spanish, including field help and the lead form, and to Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese and Arabic too.
None by name. We compare against the category of free plugins and widgets, because products change and we would rather not misdescribe them.
